YXZ - Cannon Dragon is a slightly rearranged version of XYZ - Dragon Cannon.

The Trial in X - Trial Cannon et al. likely refers to them being a prototype version of the originals.

Union Supporter is based on the frontal part of the OCG Link Monster Union Carrier.

Starry Sanctuary (Seiiki) is a pun on the Japanese word for "sanctuary" (also pronounced as seiiki)—but with the first kanji instead being the sei meaning "star."

Replete means "filled (with something)" or "abundant."

In Japanese, Pliage's Star Cluster is written in such a way (Hoshiatsume) to suggest a physical collection or gathering of something, similarly to the English phrases "stamp collecting" and "fund-raising."

Starry Sanctuary of Beginnings is a reference to the Magic Card Star of Beginnings.

Home Plate V is a parody of Yuma Tsukumo's Chaos Numbers 39: Emperor of Wishes - Hope Ray V from the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime—with which it shares a similar effect and Summoning procedure. Their summon chants also share some phonetic similarities in Japanese.

Onomatopitcher is a portmanteau of Onomatopia (referring to the OCG's Emperor of Wishes - Onomatopia or "Utopic Onomatopoeia" in the TCG) and pitcher.

Asura Bat is a parody of Yuma Tsukumo's ZEXAL Weapon - Asura Blow—to which it also has a similar effect.

The ZEXAL Weapon theme in the OCG is a group of Monster Cards that can primarily be equipped to Chaos Numbers 39: Emperor of Wishes - Hope Ray—granting it additional abilities.

The Sayonara in its name refers to a sayonara victory (known as a walk-off win outside of Japan) in baseball—when the team batting in the bottom half of an inning scores enough in the ninth inning or extra innings to overtake the opponent's total score.

The monster's depiction featuring spring-connected joints is a reference to the Major League Training Brace from the popular baseball manga Star of the Giants—which has resulted in numerous humorous parodies of it in other media. A similar type of brace was employed by the Six Goha Siblings in the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime in order to ensnare the Rush Duel Robot on the Moon's surface.

Gagaga Cheergirl is a reference to a scene from the Yu-Gi-Oh ZEXAL anime in which Yuma Tsukumo's Gagaga Girl is transformed into wearing a cheerleader outfit due to the Field Magic Card Dream Pitch.

This card also shares a similar ATK-reducing effect as the original Gagaga Girl.

Relief-Car D is a play on relief car (a motor vehicle used in professional baseball to transport relief pitchers from the bullpen to the pitcher's mound during a pitching change) and Yuma Tsukumo's Card-Car D—to which this card has a similar drawing effect.

A parody of Yuma Tsukumo's Baby Toragon also appears in the artwork.

The Player Returning Alive is a parody of The Warrior Returning Alive: the Japanese words for "warrior" (senshi) and "sports player" (senshu) sound similar to each other.

Returning Alive (Seikan) is also a Japanese baseball term for reaching the home plate.

Barrel-Up Magic - Liner's Force is a reference to the baseball term barrel up—to hit a pitch hard with the sweet spot of the baseball bat.

A liner is a batted ball that is hit hard in the air and has a low arc.

Koitsu means "this guy" in Japanese.

Doitsu means "which fellow?" or "which guy?" in Japanese.

Goraliath seems to be a twist on gorilla and Goliath.

Diarham seems to be a twist on Dharma—the eternal and inherent nature of reality, regarded in Hinduism as a cosmic law underlying right behavior and social order.

Her title of Empress Divine (Jōō) is a reference to the Japanese name of Chakravartin (tenrinjōō)—a concept or set of qualifications denoting the ideal ruler in ancient Indian thought, symbolized by the cakraratna ("wheel treasure," i.e. the Dharma wheel).

Z - Metal Caterpillar gets its name from the term caterpillar—in Japan, a generic term for any kind of continuous track, commonly used as a system of vehicle propulsion for various tanks.
